What is Tuina massage?

Tuina is a form of Chinese therapeutic massage. 'Tui' meaning to push and 'Na' to grasp.

Tuina is an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) alongside with acupuncture and herbals. However, Tuina not only does it work on muscle groups, joints, sites of pain and poor circulation, but it works the same meridians and points used in acupuncture and employs the same basic theory as TCM: "Injury or disease causes blockages in the channels of the body. Blockages cause pain." Tuina removes the blockage Qi then treat the disease.

In China, Tuina practitioners treat conditions that, in the West, would be treated by osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapists or with drugs. Tuina can and should also be used as a preventative form of treatment to maintain health and prevent accumulation of stress, disease and injury.
